Debbie Harry needs no special introduction as she is a world-famous American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is best known by being the lead singer in Blondie, as the band had numerous recordings which reached #1 in both UK and the US. Debbie is also considered the first female rapper ever, with her song Rapture being the first rap song to chart #1 in the US. Besides art, Harry is known for her charity work, mainly devoted to disease-fighting causes. In 1999, Debbie Harry was named among the top 12 greatest women of rock and roll by VH1.

Paul Michael Glaser – 75

Paul is an American actor who became a familiar face through his character Detective David Starsky on Starsky & Hutch from the ‘70s. Glaser is also known for the NBC series Third Watch. Educated in both Tulane and Boston University, Glaser has a Master’s degree in English and theater, and in acting and directing. He was married twice and has three children. Glaser’s most recent TV appearance was in 2013, in an episode of Ray Donovan, while he worked on his latest movie, Lego: The Adventures of Clutch Powers¸ as the voice of Kjeld Playwell.

Shirley is a famous English actress from the ‘50s and the ‘60s, with many notable roles during that time. She is perhaps best known as the Bond Girl Jill Masterson on Goldfinger, from 1964. In this James Bond movie, her character dies from suffocation when painted head-to-toe in gold, leading to urban myths about Shirley herself dying on the set. But, she appeared later in MythBusters to dispel these rumors. Shirley was only married once, to Lenton Rowe and they had two children. She entered retirement in 1969 and later on became a writer, publishing her autobiography in 1999 titled, Golden Girl.

Popular from her European movies of the ‘60s and the ‘70s, Claudia Cardinale was born and raised in La Goulette. After winning the Most Beautiful Italian Girl in Tunisia award in 1957, with a trip to Italy as the prize, she quickly got signed for movies. Her salary from acting initially came when she did a minor role on Goha in 1958, then she rose to fame with roles on Rocco and His BrothersGirl with a SuitcaseCartoucheThe Leopard, and 8½. Eileen Atkins – Age 84

Eileen Atkins has been working in films, television, and theater since 1953. She took dancing classes as a child and by the time she was 12, she was already a pantomime professional. After a few years of stage work, Eileen began appearing on TV in series such as Upstairs, Downstairs which she helped create. For her supporting role on Cranford, Eileen won an Emmy and BAFTA awards, as her extensive career brought her much recognition. Eileen was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1990 and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2001, and she recently appeared on Doc Martin and The Crown TV series.

Valentina Cortese – 95

Valentina Cortese is an Italian actress with a 5-decade-long career, which lasted from 1941 until 1993. At first, Valentina appeared in Italian movies in the ‘40s with her first internationally acclaimed role on Les Misérables. She was also praised for The Glass MountainMalayaThe House on Telegraph Hill, and many others. Valentina was married only once, to Jackie Basehart, in 1951. The couple had one child and their divorce came in 1960. Her most praised performance is probably on Day for Night which got her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Best known as the first Bond Girl on Dr. No, Ursula later also starred on Casino Royale, in 1967. Her first James Bond role was as Honey Ryder, then came Vesper Lynd. Ursula came to Hollywood in 1955 and became famous through Dr. No. Audiences might recall that iconic moment when Ursula emerged from the beach wearing a white bikini with a diving knife on her hip! Her latest performance was on The Bird Preachers, in 2005, and perhaps she prefers to keep her financial planning in retirement away from the public.

During the ’50s, Sophia Loren kickstarted her career in the acting industry at the young age of 16.
