Many a time you might hear about pets who saved their owners from serious accidents, or even death. There are many reasons why people consider dogs to be a man’s best friend, and this story will confirm that. It was an ordinary day for officer Jeff Gonzalez when he came across a black Labrador, originally not knowing the animal’s intentions. As he later found out, the distressed dog would lead him to a woman’s property, with the policeman witnessing a very serious situation. Hadn’t it been for our four-legged hero, things could have turned out pretty bad. You can’t miss this story!

How It All Started

Jeff Gonzalez is a police officer based in Germantown, Wisconsin. Many a time he performed patrols with his police car around the city, things could turn out to be pretty hard, especially during winters considering that the weather made his job much more difficult. However, just like any other man, Gonzalez has to make money in order to survive. His will to keep his town safe motivated him to never skip a day of hard work.

This Dog Knew Whom He Was After

Sometimes, you come across several animals in the streets, and you think that they are astray or just randomly there. However, when Gonzalez stumbled upon this particular dog, he instantly knew that the distressed animal was looking for somebody. Well, not just anybody. The dog was obviously looking for a police officer. Gonzalez didn’t know what the animal wanted at first, but he then thought that an accident might have occurred so he decided to stick with the dog.

Just Another Day

It was the 13th of February 2015 when officer Gonzalez prepared for his routine patrol around town. Many a time, Gonzalez never came across any people during the winter, as the weather was not suitable for everyday activities. You won’t see that many people going shopping on such snowy days. Withal, the policeman would find a new friend on that day—a four-legged one, actually. He never knew he would be so surprised during a normal patrol. 

A Sunny Day? Not Even Close.

Just as mentioned before, the weather was really bad during that day. Working under adverse conditions, the police officer was patrolling around town when he came across a dog running around. At first, he thought that the animal wanted to play or that he just wanted some dog food. He quickly realized, though, that animals never run around the town on such cold days, so there might be a more important reason why the dog had come to him.

His Love for Animals

Though officer Gonzalez’ duty is mostly keeping crooks out of the neighborhoods and protecting people’s properties, there have been numerous times when he did more than he was obliged to do just because he’s kind and caring. Many times, he helped lost animals by returning them to their owners or by taking care of them until experts arrived. As he claimed, he considers this to be of utmost importance if you want to call yourself someone who contributes to your local community.
